OMAM Physician Extenders provide value-added service to our practice.

Who are our Physician Extenders?

Our Physician Extenders are Certified Athletic Trainers by background. They are experienced in injury assessment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. Their main function is keeping individuals participating at a high functional level, whether in athletic, exercise or work-related activities.

 

    Genia Lemonedes MS, ATC

    CLINICAL ASSISTANT/PHYSICIAN EXTENDER
    Assistant to D. Brooks Conforti

    Primary focus is on manual therapy, therapeutic modalities and development of home exercise stretching and strengthening programs. Genia earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and her Master of Science degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine / Arizona School of Health Sciences. Genia is certified through the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).

    Past experience includes: Program Director, Metropolitan State College of Denver Athletic Training Education Program; Athletic Trainer / Outreach Coordinator, HealthSouth Physical Therapy; Athletic Trainer at other out-patient physical therapy clinics; and, Assistant Athletic Trainer, Fort Lewis College.

    Genia enjoys skiing, golfing and the outdoors.

    CLINICAL ASSISTANT/PHYSICIAN EXTENDER
    Assistant to Thomas Vavrek

    Shawna earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Performance and Sport/Athletic Training from the Metropolitan State College of Denver. She has clinical experiences with the Athletic Training programs at the School of Mines, local high schools, Panorama Orthopedics as well as at Metro State. She has also worked USA Junior Ice Hockey championships and with the Opportunity Through Baseball camp. Shawna is certified through the Board of Certification and is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association.

    Her primary focus is on manual therapy, therapeutic modalities, developing home exercise programs, stretching and strengthening programs and assisting with acupuncture.

    Shawna enjoys working out, hiking, camping, fishing, and reading.

 

Our ATCs help our physicians in the following ways:

  • Triage/Initial patient assessment
  • Assist in patient treatment
  • Assist in answering patient questions
  • Develop and design individualized home exercise program
  • Gait training, orthotics, therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation
