Our Services :: Overview

You are more than just the sum of your body parts.

That's why doctors of osteopathic medicine (D.O.s) practice a "whole person" approach to health care. Instead of just treating specific symptoms, osteopathic physicians concentrate on treating you as a whole. They focus special attention on the musculoskeletal system, which reflects and influences the condition of all other body systems.

D.O.s medical education, with a special emphasis on the musculoskeletal system, provides your doctor with a better understanding of the ways that an injury or illness in one part of your body can affect or influence another part of your body. This is significant because the system of muscles and bones makes up two-thirds of your total body mass.

OMT is a hands-on treatment where osteopathic physicians (D.O.s) use their hands to examine your back and other parts of your body such as joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles for pain and restriction during motion that could signal an injury or impaired function. By combining all other medical procedures with OMT, D.O.s offer their patients the most comprehensive care available in medicine today.

If your healthcare provider recommends a referral to Osteopathic Manipulative and Alternative Medicine (OMAM), it is most likely for evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal problems. The information on this website has been provided to inform you about our practice and about the practice of osteopathic medicine in general.
